Homeschooling Informational Resources

New Jersey Department of Education

→ NJ State Laws on homeschooling and frequently asked questions provided by the NJ Department of Education.

 

Homeschool Legal Defense Association

→ Resources and articles on homeschooling, including state laws, grading, education, special needs learning, and more. 

 

National Home Education Research Institute

→ Focuses on homeschooling research, homeschool facts, homeschool fast facts, and in-depth scholarly articles.

 

The Coalition for Responsible Home Education

→ Provides information on state laws, resources on how to begin homeschooling, and articles on various homeschool topics.

Resources for Students with Autism

Autism NJ

→ Provides guidance on assisting individuals with adjusting to the disruption in their routines, social stories, homeschooling resources, and useful apps.  Autism NJ also has a hotline: 1-800-428-8476.

 

Echo Autism

→ Contains information about how to do various therapies (including ABA, speech, and OT) and how to teach at home. Included are links to educational websites on a wide variety of subjects.

 

Education.com

→ Contains free printable worksheets on a wide variety of topics for children in preschool through fifth grade. Also has online games, songs, activities, and stories. Must create a free account to use.

 

SplashLearn

→ Uses fun, online games to teach math to children in grades 1 to 5. A free account is necessary to access some of the resources.

 

Wolf + Friends

→ Google Play Store

→ Available as a free app through the App Store and Google Play, this resource contains homeschooling resources – as well as additional information geared toward caregivers of those with special challenges.

 

AutEdu (Autism Education)

→ Google Play Store

→ This free app, which is available through Google Play, enables communication between caregivers and teachers.

 

Otsimo

→ Google Play Store

→ App Store

→ Free through both the App Store and Google Play, this source teaches letters, numbers, colors, animals, and more.  It also provides Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), which is often used in speech therapy.
